What's happening in Mumbai makes me feel so... hopeless. I mean those terrorists went around on the streets shooting people and none of our security agencies could stop them fast enough. They were better armed than the Mumbai police and as well armed as the NSG commandos. An
entire police force versus 12 terrorists and we still couldn't take care of it. It shows how vulnerable and defenseless our country really is. Not that it's the police's fault, they are doing their best but all the political disunity in our country leaves gaps in our security and surveillance for terrorists to slip in. Barely hours into the terror attacks and the political parties started politicizing the issue and playing the blame game. Correct me if I'm wrong, BJP, but I thought the most effective way to combat terrorism was to fight against terrorists, not the Congress.
Do you see this happening in the US? You can laugh at all their paranoia after 9/11 but look at them for what they are , one nation united on all fronts against terrorism. Right now, it's not important to think about who let the clod-blooded terrorists in. It's time for us to see where we are falling short in our security measures and take care of that immediately. It's unsettling to see how the terrorists just breezed past the Navy. And how the fuck does it matter what religion these terrorists belong to?
It's a known fact that deliberating and debating is an essential part of democracy and leads to delays in decision making. Which is why, in emergencies like this, a certain amount of autonomy should be granted to security agencies for quick action.
India should not forget these incidents and let it's security grow lax because we are surrounded by potentially hostile nations and can't afford to get complacent. Investments should be made towards improving our security infrastructure and planning. Then, how hard can it be for a strong, united and well-coordinated nation to tackle a handful of terrorists?
